WHAT IS NTA UGC NET?

On behalf of UGC, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum criteria of the competitors in the teaching profession and research. It is conducted in Humanities, Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, and Electronic Science. The tests are conducted twice a year, generally in the months of June and December.

The Test will consist of two papers which will consist of only objective type questions. Paper-1 shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. Paper-2 shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks and there will be no negative marking.
